This post is a little delayed, but I had to work. I fished Lindon harbor and the bubble-up in my tube. Water temp was 46 in the harbor and main lake. A few tiny fish on the sonar inside the harbor, but no takers. I caught two almost identical weight (8lb) carp on a jig. I intended to find the inlet of Battle Creek, but I couldn't. I gave up and headed out to the bubble-up. A few fish on sonar on the way out, but I didn't catch anything. I fished the bubble-up for a couple of hours. I caught four pretty decent white bass and a couple of small ones, all on a chartreuse jig. I couldn't get a fish on any other colored jig or spinners. About noon a duck boat with three guys in it got stranded a couple of hundred yards from shore when their motor quit on them. The water was pretty rough and they only had one paddle. They were luckily straight out from that stretch of shore just south of the bubble-up where you can get to shore easily. I thought about those poor people at Strawberry. Those guys in the duck boat could have been in plenty of trouble in a hurry. I couldn't see if they had pfd's or not, but I'd like to think they did. Anyway, a pretty slow day overall. I got off the water about 15 min before the rain hit. The wind was blowing straight out of the north. It took me 90 minutes to kick back to Lindon. That's my size 11 shoe in the pic with the fish. The biggest was 15 in. and 1lb 8 oz.

[cool][#0000ff]Good report. Glad you found a few of the whities I left behind on my last trip.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I wonder if any fish are going to move inside the harbor this winter. There hasn't been much of anything inside for a long time. I have heard of a few largemouth being caught, but no whites, walleyes, bluegills or crappies as there have been in the past by this time of year.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I suspect that with the higher water and more cover around the lake that the fish are just more scattered. When the water is lower the harbors are about the only structure and haven on the lake.[/#0000ff]

I've been thinking the same thing. The water level is still quite good. I haven't been to any of the other harbors, but Lindon sure is bare. There weren't alot of fish on the sonar at the bubble-up either. Nothing shallower than 5ft. Some day I'm going to find where those fish go in the deeper water.

[cool][#0000ff]It's tough from a tube or toon. But, there are deep water areas both around Bird Island and off Lincoln Beach that you can find with a boat and sonar. Doesn't mean you can get them to bite, but you can find them. Maximum depth I have been able to find at high water is about 15 feet. Right now that would probably be about 13 feet. The deepest in most of the harbors right now might be 7 feet.[/#0000ff]

Those whities were turned into fish tacos about 30 min after they were filleted. I need to get into a bunch of them, the guys at work are getting restless. I'm always amazed at how few people that live in Utah have ever eaten warm water species. They think anything besides trout and salmon are trash fish. One dinner of whites, perch, crappie, or catfish and they are usually converted.
