Back from Florida report
#1
I couldn't believe how nice the weather was down there, highs in the 80's and lows in the morning around 50. Pretty cold to the natives, bass fishing heaven for me...Of course I had to take the kiddo's to Disneyworld and Seaworld (not too many people to my surprise). I got busted fishing the lakes around DW and the security guards said I had to have a guide to fish there, true? who knows..did catch some nice fish.
Lake Toho was a bust, high winds and rain-The only day it rained of course-caught one bass from the shore.
Okeechobee was a blast, I hooked into bass, gar, mudfish, crappie, and even a bruiser cat that went after a trickworm.
On to Ocala, the amount of small bodies of water in Florida that hold large bass is unreal. Having trouble finding water through the trees, I picked up a topo map and went on 6 day bass bender. My favorite spot I found was called Salt Springs Run. Natural springs that pump out millions of gallons of water, enough to produce a river that feeds Lake George. Bass fishing heaven, biggest was only 5# but very consistent and even caught a blue crab. I came back to a yard full of leaves and an awful story of bodies in the berry, I want to go back to Florida...

Dude you are making me home sick!!!! [Sad] I regret not taking advantage of all the fresh water species we have back home. I was more of a salt water freak! [Tongue] I use to have a canal in my back yard and had tons of big LMB in it. The weather is always nice this time of year and you picked a good time to go to DW. Winter there for some reason is their slowest time of year and its not to hot either. Hey did you hook up with any of those gators?

Sounds like a great trip! Cool pictures too! [pirate]Any teeth on that gar? The good news about coming home is that we have that cow hunt to look foreward to. I'll let ya know how we do this weekend.

I tried to avoid the gators but close enough to zoom in on this one. Maybe not the brightest idea but made a great pic. The "natives" were swimming in the same waters as the pic of the gator. I stayed in the boat.
