Ice on?
#1
I'm back ....I only winter fish... through the ice... so I don't visit the board during the spring, summer or fall, but come Thanksgiving time, I start visiting again. I haven't missed an ice fishing trip over Thanksgiving weekend for the last 5 years. Usually the bay by the dam at Scofield is frozen or Hunnington Res. Last year the ice was thin at Hunnington, but fishable if you had enough nerve to brave the black ice and the constant cracking didn't get to you. So as not to break my streak, the big question is, "is Hunnington going to be iced over friday enough to walk on and fish?" If anyone knows anything, please post. I may make the trip regardless of reply's and I will post my results.

[cool]The ice makings seems to be about a week behind schedule from last year, but I've heard a rumor that Fairview lake is frozen (planter bows) and that usually freezes about a week before Huntington does. There's some people going up this next Friday, Sat., Sun. I'll be one of the ones on Friday. We're taking rope just in case, and I'd advise the same for you or a life jacket. Don't know how thick it is yet, but I'd guess it will be at least 3 inches next weekend...Good luck up there, and I might see ya there too...As for Scofield, I doubt it this year (T-Day, anyway). I think it might still be about 2-3 weeks away this year... My personal opinion is that by the time Scofield will be frozen this year, parts of Strawberry will be good to go...

I'm on the same page as O4t on this one. Gonna be close. Haven't heard from the fuzzinator as of late, so I hope he hasn't been swimming with the fishes in the cold water.

kj-

Good to see another fellow "winter only" fisherman. It's weird that I don't hardly even think about fishing until the ice hits, then I'm obsessed with it. Must like hunting and camping too much I guess.

It's been pretty cold, but that warm snap we had a few weeks ago didn't help the water temps. Anyone posted a water temp for Strawberry lately?
