Mantua is ice capped!
#1
[black]I stopped by Mantua today on my way home from work. It capped yesterday with an open place in the center and today it is fully capped with about 3/4" to 1" of good ice. Will it be ready for this weekend? Doubtful but by next weekend, you should be good to go.[/black]

Yes, gills and perch. I release the bass but they fight nice thru the ice. Perch to about 10"? Gills to 7"? I took the boat once this year after being skunked at Willard while camping with the kids. We actually went for perch and gills but ended up getting several nice bass instead.
I am really looking forward to early ice this year. Looks like Mantua will be the first place.[cool]

[black]I wouldn't recommend heading for Mantua this weekend. I personally know of two guys that have gone thru the ice there today (Friday). Temps have warmed and and the ice is barely holding it's own. In the afternoon, when the sun was hitting it, Large cracks were showing and where my friends were fishing, the ice started slowly sinking with water coming out of their holes. As was said else where, today was an expedition to scare the crap out of yourself.[/black]
