Mantua
#1
I went to Mantua yesterday afternoon. There is about 3 inchs of ice but if my wife were around I would have to say it was 9 inchs. [Wink] Watchout for thin spots around the edge. My dog fell through and I had to pull him out. I only stayed an hour I fished around the boat ramp no bites I used worms.

[cool]Thanks for the report. Not even a bite, eh? Man that sucks. Even on my worst of days ice fishing there, I've at least gotten bites, but for some reason this time of year, the fishing seems to be worse right out in front of the boat ramp, and I have no idea why. Did you have a fishfinder on you? Now that I've finally had one for a year now, they make a HUGE difference, because as TubeDude says "you can't catch the fish where they ain't." If you don't have a fishfinder and your camped out right on top of a huge weedbed, then you don't really know it a lot of times, and you can't do much about it.

Last year, I finally figured out the lake a little better and went over to the SouthEast side and did a million times better. Some lures and baits that I've had success with there are Small Genz worms in the chartruese and white colors, and other small ice flys, and try tipping them with maggots (but if you don't have those, use the Gulp (fake) maggots, or wax worms, or meal worms. Hope that helps you out a bit. I'll be fishing there on Saturday I think, and I'll make a report...
