Cheap SLA batteries
#1
[cool][#0000ff]Just a headsup. If you need a new 12 volt SLA battery for sonar or whatever, you should check out NPS stores at Market Square in Salt Lake. The 7 amp/hour batteries at Sportsmans run $20. You can get an 8 amp/hour at NPS for just over $6. They charge 70 cents a pound in the main store and there are some in the bargain cave that are discounted off that.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I just got one of the 8 amp/hours and a 4 amp/hour (good tubing size). The smaller one was only 79 cents in the bargain cave and both tested good on the volt meter.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you have never been there they have tons of stuff you will never need, but tools and sporting goods items that you can't live without...at super prices...freight lots, etc.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]I have never bothered to find out my own self...about the name. You could probably find that out and if there are any outlets in Utah County by calling the number on the link.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I doubt they have more than the one outlet. They are right in the middle of the industrial area...rail and trucking warehouses. They buy up lots of damaged freight and sell it for whatever they can get from it.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Otherwise, if you want me to pick up a couple of batteries I can bring them down when we hit the ice (SOOOOOON???)[/#0000ff]

[cool]Thanks for the heads up on this, TD. I think that BassAckward was telling me about these guys. I think they are one of his customers or associates from his line of work. If these guys are the ones I think he was telling me about, he highly recommends them too...

There not a associate or anything like that for my work. Over the years I have purchased many things there from batteries to knifes. Cool place, but just like everything else know the market for stuff you are going to purchase. Sometimes it's a great deal other times they are over priced so know what your buying is the trick. Across the street is there food store same thing goes there. Then once a week out off i-80 in the airport business area they have a action for pallets of stuff. I have made alot of good purchases there over the years.
It used to be one of my secret shopping places. I guess that cat is out of the bag now Thanks pat [Tongue] Just messing with you. Good luck

[cool][#0000ff]Hey Mike, you are one of three local BFTers who told me about NPS. But, it took me a while to stop by the first time. Then I was like a kid in Disneyland for the first time. For a sportsman or just a plain old tinkerer it is a candy store. You walk up and down the aisles, seeing stuff you have never seen before, and trying to figure out what it is and how you can use it. Some stuff you just gotta buy, because it's so cheap and you rationalize you can find a use for it later.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One word of advice on the batteries, which both of us neglected to post...always check them on the voltage meter they have available at the service desk. If you are buying a 12 volt SLA battery, make sure that the volt meter reads at least 12 volts. Anything less than that is trouble. I checked a couple that registered almost zero, but most of the ones in the newer part of the store...and many in the bargain cave...are perfectly good batteries that have never been used and test over 12.5 volts.[/#0000ff]
