As usual, headed out after work with my 7 year old accomplice (3:30 pm) to our beloved Lake Mead. You know this time of year the fishing is really slow, the stripers are deep, and it is cold for a desert rat. But I look forward to these trips with every bit as much vigor as I do in June. By Wednesday every week I am like a 10 year old on Decemer 23. Does this mean I am sick? Luckilly out of my four children (7,8,13,14) I have one with my passion for fishing. Any way as I prepared the boat in the 7-day lot above the launch ramp in the howling wind, and the intermittent sprinkles, I began to worry that tomorrow might not turn out to be a very good day. Especially since on the way to the lake I blew out a tire on the boat trailer when I ran over someones tie down hook. But luckily upon awakening in the back end of the Jeep I found that it was overcast, fairly warm and the water was like glass. And it remained this way untill 10 pm when we quit for the day. We ended up with about 8, 1-4 pound stripers, a 4 pound catfish, 2 largemouth the larger of which went 2 lbs, and a great day of hanging out. The point of my lengthy tale is "Don't give up untill you have to !" Good luck to all of you, and I will have another for you next Sunday. Check out the links for a pic or 3.
P.S. The last picture is one of the elusive wild horses that roam Lake Mead National Park. We had the pleasure of watching it water at the shore. It was a good day!!!
