My friend Chris and I were talking about catching Burbot up at Flaming Gorge the other night and ended the conversation scratching our heads. We were wondering if where Burbot if caught you must kill them why is there a limit. Or secondly, if you were to catch your 25 and than go mack hunting and catch #26 what would the ramifications be?
Damn I hate it when you are in a perfectly good beer stupor telling fish stories and start making sense. I guess that just means you have ran out of beer. Ohh well
Thanks

[cool][#0000ff]Pop another can and chill out. Nobody is in danger of catching 25 burbot...at this time.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The limit was set by Utah to conform with the Wyoming regs.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I suspect that when and if the burbot population gets large enough that the 25 fish limit needs some attention, it will be changed as necessary.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I can almost guarantee there will not be any CO's at the docks checking for overlimits on burbot.[/#0000ff]

All Burbot caught must be killed immediately, whether you have 25 or not both Utah and Wyoming want them dead. You won't get any hassles for 26 , but you may get a medal.

I don't think you will have any problem with killing more then the 25. I have seen several reports on those things this year and the DWR seems to just want them dead. If you find a legal way to catch them do it. Kill them all was the message.

I love beer. This has nothing to do with the original question, but I do love beer.
So, when you catch 25 Burbot, you quit fishing for them. I don't see the problem........but, I'm a simple man.
