What: Strategy Briefing

When: Friday, Jan. 5 at 12:15 p.m.

Where: Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries (LDWF), 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, Second Floor Conference Room

Why: The Louisiana Fishing Community Recovery Coalition is requesting $20 million from the LRA to fund its Back to the Dock program.

Hurricane-related damage to the fishing/processing families is estimated at over $400 million. The Back to the Dock program will help fishermen get back on the water, plus help rebuild a business essential to the economic structure of Louisiana.

Coalition members are available to discuss their pending request to the LRA in anticipation of LRA's Jan. 12 vote on the funding.

The coalition includes representatives from 17 commercial and recreational fishing groups, trade associations, fisheries manager agencies and research programs.
