What fish can you just not throw back?
#1
When you're fishing your favorite freshwater hot spot, what species of fish, if caught, is just such good table fare you can't throw it back?

[black][size 3]I love to eat all fish and I haven't found any that don't taste great when prepared right.[/size][/black]

[black][size 3]One thing in our area though, because they are so over-abundant in some waters, I have a hard time with the idea of throwing back Carp. They make such good catfish bait that I always have a use for them and I always seem to have some in the freezer. Not to mention how good they are for bait when they are fresh out of the water.[/size][/black]

I have to disagree with fishhound as far as most fish being pretty good if prepared correctly. However, i'm with Fishhound as far as if a fish doesn't look like it's going to make it.

As far as the question, I have a hard time tossing back a nice sized crappie. I've let plenty of nice flatheads go, even though they are probably my favorite freshwater fish to eat. But, crappie are just so good, flakey white meat, I have a hard time letting them go. [cool]

Can't argue with a slab crappie, for sure!
Kokanee salmon are probably #1 on my list.

[black][size 3]LOL ! I've never met a fish I didn't think would taste pretty good. Maybe there is one out there, but me being the picivourous primate that I am, I would probably still like it. Fish=YUMMY in my dietary lexicon.[/size][/black]

If I was going to consider not throwing a fish back, it would most likely be a trout.
