DNR postpones decision on Wilton gravel project
#1
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has postponed a decision on whether or not it will require an environmental impact statement (EIS) to describe the potential environmental effects from a proposed gravel mining operation in the city of Wilton in Beltrami County.

The postponement will allow more time for the project proposer to provide additional information about the mining and reclamation site plan and potential effects to surface and ground water from mining activities. The DNR will likely reach a decision by late February.

"I appreciate all of the public comments we have received to date, and the DNR is committed to gathering all of the relevant facts for this project," said NW Regional Director Mike Carroll.
