We went over to the first spring at Lincoln beach from 3 to 5:30 today. We found a spot about 30 yards out in front of the open water over the spring that was about 6 feet deep. Caught one good sized crappie and a couple small bluegill. There were a lot of holes drilled all over out there, some way out from where we were. Has anyone had good luck out there anywhere? There were also a lot of holes between the dikes out from the dock.

How thick is the ice where you were fishing? Thinking about a trip to Bird Island on my snowmobile. Is it possible or a suicide mission? Those dang eyes have to be somewhere. Haven't caught any in the bays this season.

Ya, that was a last minute picture, and by then they were getting cold because the sun had went behind the mountain, and they were worn out from all the playin. The ice was close to 14 inches, the same length as my scoop handle. Going out to bird island would be no problem on a snowmobile or 4 wheeler in my opinion, it was ice with snow on top as far as I could see. Although I'd never suggest it, or try it, I bet you could drive your truck to bird Island this year.

...funny you would mention Bird Island! I just posted up wondering if one could walk out to it right now. Is is shorter from the east side of the lake or from Lincoln Beach?

Here's some pictures from some of the many trips to Utah Lake last summer, they were a bit more exited those trips. Catfish is 28" and 12 pounds, the smaller one is 20", and the white bass is 17".

Those are great pics!! My brother has also caught some huge channels down there at UL. Nothing like catching a hog! The kids get hooked!

Man! Lookin' at that catfish has got my blood pumpin'. I can't wait to break out the toon, although it may be a little longer with all that ice on the lake. I started fishing UL about this time last year, all open except a thin sheet of ice near the reeds.

You could probably walk out there, but I wouldn't. The closest shore to it is Lincoln Beach, and it is still over a mile from there.
