Canyon Ferry Dam and below it?
#1
Guess headed your way toward the end of June this year, in memorial to my father and his recent passing.....been years since I was there....a kid back then! Remember the walleye on the gravel bars below the dam....and floating from the ropes to the bend dragging a spinner about 8-10 feet down in the rolling waters as the dam spill gates were open...got a need for a lake map (only need a copy please) and info as to where to stay.....Lakeside Bar was the place to party.....but only lived about a mile and half from it...any info would be appreciated. [Wink] Yup below Canyon Ferry is really Hauser Lake, love Black Sandy area, but I was referring to the gravel bars immediately below Canyon Ferry Dam itself....the first mile or so before you make the bend and can't see the dam anymore....boat launch site is on the north side of the river just off from the cable across the river to keep you back when the dam is in the full spill mode. That is always the best time to fish for the trout...but we are planning to fish in the 3rd week of June I guess...hopefully the water is not too cold yet...takes time to warm up...can always go for walleye just down river to the first bend anyway...or farther down to Lakeside Bar and Marina. Maybe even stop and see the old farmstead right there also.
