New Board Moderator

Well, here we go on another adventure… I’ve signed up to moderate this Clubs Board for Mike and the Big Fish Tackle crew.[Smile] I’ll tell you I’m really excited to be a part of this dynamic group. My aim here will be to provide a forum that is interesting and informative for use by all fishing clubs, club members, potential club members, and fishing folks in general. You know fishing is much more fun when you’re with a group of people you know, and a club is a good way to meet people who feel as you do about fishing.

I, along with the other moderators are hoping to get more and more traffic on this and other Big Fish Tackle message boards, and we can only do this with your input. So, FEEL FREE TO POST anything you think could be interesting or informative to other readers. Club meeting dates and times, club activities, membership issues, inter-club competitions, etc.

If you’re looking for a club to join you’ve come to the right place. Just post where you’re located, what type of fishing you like to do, and I’m sure you’ll hook up with the right club for you. If you’re a club looking for new members, post your information here.

I plan to make this forum a vehicle clubs can use to increase their memberships and activities. As many of you know, I’m on the Pro-Staff for several tackle manufacturers… Seeker Fishing Rods, Progear Reels, Softsteel Monofilament Line, Kicker Jigs, Big Hammer Plastics, Booyaa Sportswear, Mustad Hooks, Area Rule Engineering, Fishco Leadheads, ProCure Bait Scents, Assault Lures, etc. My plan is to get these and other manufacturers involved in the club scene, not just as giveaways for club meetings, but for incentives to club growth and publicity for the club.

So… this forum will provide a nice platform to launch many varied initiatives to spur club growth and participation on this and other Big Fish Tackle boards.

If any clubs out there would like to have a seminar speaker for your meeting, let me know. I’ll be there with bells on and bring a carload of stuff for your raffle.[Smile] If any club would like to join me on Fishtalk Radio to promote your club, send me an email and I’ll arrange it. Being in the studio and on the radio is way cool. [cool]

As some of you may know, I’m also heavily involved with United Anglers of Southern California. I plan to bring the clubs and UASC together on this board in an effort to create more camaraderie between clubs by having friendly competitions and such with the final goal being an increased membership in United Anglers and a stronger political voice concerning our angling sport. Got any ideas that might help?

By the way, this board is not limited to Southern California. I'd like to see Clubs from across the country and in fact from around the world. Hearing about all the clubs with their varied interests would be very interesting reading. So, whether your club is near or far, salt or fresh water, please feel free to post here and tell us about your club.

Anyway, I’m glad to be here and I hope I can help this board grow. Dan,
Good luck on this new undertaking - your experience working with the vast majority of local clubs certainly makes you the Southern California club expert. The guys at Big Fish really got the right person for the job.
I would also like to thank you for the stellar job you have done for United Anglers of Southern California working with our affiliate members as an advocate for better fishing and a conduit for conservation information. Your hard work and dedication to better fishing are to be commended.
Tight lines,
Tom Raftican
President, United Anglers of Southern California

G'day Dan and a big welcome from me.

Inspirational reading and I will be more than happy to help out where possible, drop in comments where appropriate and assist clubs, new members and other anglers where possible..

Yep that's right, even from all the way down here in Australia. The internet makes that real easy and when anglers get together, pool their networks for a common goal (or two), they make a formidable force and things happen, all over the world IMO.

The also become a wealth of knowledge and for me there is always something new to learn, no matter how long I have been involved in fishing.

It's a great thing and clubs play a huge role in fostering that and many other important factors which are not just about fishing.

I look forward to dropping in more often and am sure many other anglers will too.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com
