today was the rockville elks club ice derby,at crystal lake.and yes i entered,with alittle coaxing from my friend.since i am not much of a tourny person anymore.i was out of the door a 4:15 am and at my buddies house at 430,loaded up in his truck and we are off.we got to the rockville fish and game club to sign in at 5:00 am.we were on the ice at 5:30.we were allowed to drill holes before the start time of 7:00 am,and set the depth for our bait.there were 4of us,so 24 holes. today was a great day with the sun comming up,and a slight breeze,a great change from the high winds we have been having this past weekwe had a couple of fish to enter at 2lbs,but none won,the winning weight was 3.5,and it paid for the first 5 places.
they also had a raffle ,first was a jiffy power auger(which my buddy one a few years back),second was a bottom line fishing buddy 1101 fishfinder,third was a small jet sled,and fourth was $50 gift certificate
i won second prize,in the raffle,
this lake,is a place i wouldn't fish on a regular basis,but would go back for another tourney

Sweet pictures dude! Looks like you guys had alot of fun. Atleast you won something, I never win squat in those raffles. [  ]
I must say, I envy your ability to fight off the cold and storm out on a big block of ice to go fishing. LOL, i'd never make it past the fireplace. [cool]

well its a first for me,i usually am a donator LOL,the weather was great,we were all overdressed,didnt really need gloves,i forgot to mention that i landed,some nice perch and a small bass

I entered one this weekend as well, but didnt fair as well... I wonder if it had to do with me not fishing till the last thirty minutes ....LOL

only 3 weeks of ice left. have to get in as much time as we can...
who knows when the next time we will get ice again.
have to see if I can get in some lovy day ice fishing in too...

I did have to turn on the engine twice to worm up a little. the hot engine makes a nice back wormer...[laugh] good thing I was wearing all the insulation, that engine could lead up to a couple good burns....
10 minuts of running time is good for an hour of heat. you would be amazed how much that little amount of heat can do to add a little comfort.
the high wheel wells make a great little crany to tuck in from out of the wind.
