[cool]Went to the view yesterday to ice fish it or my first time (only softwater fished it once about 6 years ago) and I was reminded of the importance of owning a power auger... Ice was 16 inches thick. We got there at about 7:00 and it was still almost all the way dark. Being mixed up on my directions out at Cemetary Point, I headed East instead of West (which where we REALLY wanted to be). We drilled some holes and wore our selves out doing so. There was only one other car there and the one hour of solitude and fish catching was great too. Unfortunitely, we drilled right where the noise squad likes to fish too, so by 9:00 there were tons of people between us and the shoreline. It was slow goings, but the ice was so thick, we didn't bother out to different spots to find more active schools of perch when it died off at our spot. I caught 8 and my buddy rookie ice fisherman from work brought one or two up to the ice. We did better than any of the other groups around us. Most I saw anybody else have was like two.
After getting corrected on my directions, I saw the spot that I ORIGINALLY wanted to be at to avoid the crowds and get into the bigger perch. I now know for Presidents Day right where I'm gonna fish there. It was still a great day, even though the fish weren't too cooperative and we were in noiseville, the weather was great, and it was relaxing. Can't wait to get a power auger next year though...
