ASA, along with a number of California angling organizations, is working to ensure that the MLPA Science Advisory Team includes members who will take angling and boating concerns into account when determining the number and extent of Marine Protected Areas. ASA has met several times with its partners - the Coastside Fishing Club and United Anglers of Southern California - to formulate a plan of action. Their most recent meeting was at the ASA/Fred Hall Fishing Tackle, Boat and Travel Show in San Francisco. Gordon Robertson, ASA's lead for the MLPA efforts, made a presentation to the show exhibitors explaining how California's MLPA impacts the recreational fishing industry.
