I've been thinking about picking one of these up. About how long does it take to drill a hole through the ice with one? I'm sure it all depeneds on ice thickness but just throw some numbers out there.

You need to be more spicific....
which type of manual are you speaking of?
Strike Master makes four that I know of
there are the flat blade type called maura blades, stay away from the one with the off set crank, "the one you have to spin both hands unless you stand 6 foot 6, other wise you will knock your self our, posibly even break a cap or loose a dental bridge...
the one with a stationairy top ball is better than the off set one....
then there is the lazer jets.... one has two curved blades and the other has four curved blades...
I picked up one with two blades, I take a couple minutes to go though 18 inches of ice, I have short arms so I cant get a full swing... I like it alot....
the taller guys who use the same type as me get though a lot faster than I do...
I havent tried the four blade one yet, it cost another 40$ more than the two blade one...
the two blade lazer jet cost about 40$ more than the strike master maura style. I say spend the money.... you will be happier in the long run....
just remember to spray it down with WD-40 at the end of the season.

I have the Strikemaster Lazer with the 6" cut. Today it was taking me, on average, 60 seconds to get thru close to 2 feet of ice. Biggest problem I have is getting thru that last half inch of ice at the bottom of the hole. For some reason I keep getting hung up on it. Takes several tried to finally get thru it.
