Just joined the site and wanted to say Hello to all the members. I live in southern wisconsin and like fishing for just about every kind of fish i can find. I suppose i target pike the most, I love there unpredictable nature and hard fights.

Hello Austin,
Welcome aboard!

I'm with you, I love Pike fishing. I did a lot of it in Syracuse growing up but moved to Claifornia where the pike are hard to come by. Now I'm in Colorado and plan on doing much more!

Hey, maybe you can give us other members a run down on how to mount a fish. [cool]

Sure, We start by making a tracing of the fish and taking pics of the fish ,if needed for the body carving or painting process. We then skin and flesh all the meat out of the fish, and put it into a special soak. After soaking we custom carve a body and mount the fish.(position tail, mouth ,card fins, ect.) Then we let it dry . Next we start the finishing process (fin repairs, apoxie repairs, setting the eyes, ect.) When thats completed we paint the colors back on the fish using an airbrush. We then apply the clear gloss coat.

Sounds like there is alot of artistry and crafting involved in it. I think i'll leave it to the professionals. [Smile]

I've never seen it done, but I knew it wasn't easy. I know it isn't very cheap either, atleast around here. Thanks alot for sharing!
