I am looking for a spot to go ice fishing in 2 weeks. Needs to be a place I can drive to and get within 1/2 mile of the ice with a car. I don't care what I am fishing for just want to get on the ice at least once this winter. I would have been out quite a bit but hard to do when you are in the Middle East for the last 6 months. Any suggestions of where I might find ice so I can try and get my stuff ready next week for a trip in 2 weeks.
Thanks Chad

IMHO Bear Lake may not be fishable in two weeks. Strawberry will likely be fishable. Huntington and Electric Lake should definitely be fishable.

Fished Strawberry today. Snow shoes are a must.

Thanks for all the input guys. Was figuring Strawberry would still be good but didn't know about any other places. What about Scofield? Thanks again guys.

First of all welcome back and thanks for everything you and all our service men and women are doing for our country over in the middle East.
I think you are right, Scofield should be good for a month or longer, another spot would be some of the Uinta lakes, that is if you can get to them. Good luck no matter where you go and let us know how you do. WH2

How much snow and how much slush is there now? Can a ATV get out or is the slush too deep? Thanks for the info.

Fished Scofield this weekend and the ice is still holding up. Edges are good except for directly east of the island where everyone takes their wheelers on. Looks a little mushy there, but still lots of easy access. Should be good for a couple of weeks. No crowds to speak of at all.

I fished chicken creek east and I don't think an ATV could make it. I walked out to the island and it wasn't bad in the morning, but when the sun comes up so does the slush monster. Without snow shoes it would be tuff walking.
