Pet deaths prompt recall of pet food.

If you purchase your dog or cat food from petsmart, kroger chains or walmart you may want to read this. A major pet food manufacture has recalled many brands of foods due to causing kidney failures.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take this seriously!

I work at Petsmart, and today we've had to take nearly 500 varieties of canned and pouched food off of the shelves. 11 dogs as of 9:45 tonight have died because of this.

Some of the varieties affected include:
Science Diet
Nutro
Eukanuba
Iams
Award
Authority
Sophistacat

If you have ANY of these foods immediately discard them, or take them back to the store you purchased them from for a refund. This is scarry stuff due to the quick acting nature of the outbreak.

If any of you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me, and I'll try to get you the most updated information possible.

Any idea of what is causing the problem?

Looks like it's an additive that was added to every last kind of pouched food, along with some of the varieties of cans, like the sliced and chopped. I have no idea what it is yet; I haven't had a chance to talk to my manager since Saturday night. But it's super quick acting, and it shuts down all renal function in dogs and cats within about 48 hours.
