OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULED FOR LINESVILLE STATE FISH HATCHERY
#1
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will host an open house -- "A Day at A Hatchery" -- Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the agency's Linesville State Fish Hatchery.

The event is open for public visitation from 12-4 p.m. Visitors are invited to come see methods used in taking and fertilizing musky and walleye eggs, sorting fish from trap nets, determining the age of fish, and much more.

Attendees can watch demonstrations on filleting and cooking fish or talk to Waterways Conservation Officers. A kids' casting practice area will also be open.

The visitor center will be full of various exhibits and displays to help visitors learn the varied duties and aspects of the Fish and Boat Commission and its partners. The 10,000-gallon viewing aquarium will have many favorite fish species to observe up close and personal. Participants can make their own "fish prints" on paper or on a t-shirt (bring your own or buy one there for $3). There's something for everyone, so follow the crowd and join the PFBC for the afternoon.
