Hey Guys.
For the second time this week I got caught in a really bad lightning storm,I was 1/2 hour out in the atlantic last night and lightning was hitting the water all around! I was wondering if anybody knows what would happen if it hit my boat, both docked or me out on it? Also do they make anything that would help if it hit??? TIGHT LINES,TIM

That's a good Q Tim and while I could make some suggestions about earthing electrical systems etc, I think we need some input here from a boat electrician or someone with similar experience.

I would like to know too because at times when pro - guiding in the tropics I have been caught in similar storms and often wondered the same thing.

Let's here from you sparkies (as we call them), and other knowledgable boaters, cos I am dead keen to know the answers.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com

Did you hear about the guy on Long Beach Island, NJ. Skies were blue and a storm way quite a ways off shore. The guy was hit by lightning on the beach. So even if lighting seems far from your boat, that doesn't make you any safer than being in the middle of it. I read that graphite conducts well, so holding one during a storm is not a great idea. As for other advice, I have none.

Tight lines at sea, screamin kids at home!
