I was taking a bike ride along with my family today on the trail that runs along the jordan river north of 10th north. And there was a couple of guys fishing the river . I did not talk to them but i just wonder what all does the jordan river hold as far as fish. and where is the best part of the river to fish.

Depending on where you are at the Jordan holds juat about everything. Catfish, Carp, Whitebass, suckers, sun fish, even walleys have been taken for the Jordan. Just depands on where you decide to soak a hook. I'll guess you might be in the Rose Park area Catfish, carp and white bass are the most aboundent.

[cool][#0000ff]There are also some toad trout in the Jordan too...rainbows, browns and even a stray cutt now and then. Whenever you are soaking "garden hackle"...for whatever comes along...use your two pole permit to toss spinners or small Rapalas.[/#0000ff]

fish the jordan river all the time, never keep anything except carp and suckers for cat bait.fish the bends and below the rapids and any place where the water comes back on its self.below every down tree in the water.bread and nite crawlers.try where the creeks come in,have fun.surpluss canal is good also, that is very deep in places. I fish one hole that is at least 12 ft deep. fish often and have fun

hey Thanks for the advice. Have you ever landed a white bass out of there? I'am gonna try it for the first time today around 4:30 p.m.I'll be just north of the 10th north bridge. There i have seen a few good spots. I to will just fish and release . Unless i land some carp for bait to use @ Utah Lake. I might throw a few spinners for white bass.

There's a lot of different species in the Jordan. Channel Catfish, Black Bullhead, Carp, Utah Suckers, White Bass, Largemouth Bass, Walleye, Blue Gill, Green Sunfish, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Cutthroats, Perch, Black Crappie. And those are just the ones I've caught through Salt Lake.
And for all those species, there are just as many places to fish for them. Any of the road overpasses, inflows, outflows, bends, cut off banks, rocky areas, gravel bars, anything like that, all hold fish.
Cut baits, especially sucker, seems to work best for the channels and bullheads. Worms and jigs for most of the rest. Bread also seems to work. It'll all just depend on the time of day, location, and type of fish you want to target.
It's going to be an interesting year this year on the Jordan, with the new two pole regs and all. It's fun to wade fish that river when it's just a bit lower than it is now. Give it the middle of April, and you won't be able to keep the suckers off your lines, and it'll only get better after that.

Well i finally tried it yesterday with not much luck. But i did have a few really good strikes using just bread. I wanted to catch carp to use for kitty bait. But as a few people have told me on here that during late april the river might heat up. I think i will give it a try again tomorrow after work say around 5:30 but i think this time i'll try a different spot. Who knows this could turn out to be a good place to fish. And from what i have heard on here i think it just might be. Carp will again be my target.
