Lake Mead Monday

Monday, 04/02/07-Hit the water early (5:45am). Decided to spend the morning poking around the back of coves tossing lures for a change. Started in Gov't Wash, working the entire area, nothing. Headed across the channel to the Hole 33 side, tied on a deep diving lure with rattles in it. Started bouncing this perfectly good lure off of rocks, dragging it across the bottom, you know just trying to get some attention. At one point, I thought I had a monster hit, but it turned out to be a water-logged tumbleweed. All was not lost, when dragging the lure through a weedbed a got a big hit. Up came a nice fat Bass.

Don't worry, this beauty was released unharmed! The backgound is the very end of Hole 33. It was nice and calm in all the back coves, unlike the Channel around Sand Island, Las Vegas Bay, and Boulder Basin.

Choppy ride home, with a little spray to keep things interesting! Off the water by 10:00am. What a great day.

[cool] Hey BaySport, I usually fish the coves around 33 hole in my floattube. How deep were you fishing? I would have thought that the bass were up in the shallows by now. I haven't tried for them yet as I am chasing stripers at the trout plants.

Big E! Good to know that your still alive! Where are all the posts about your fishing adventures? Always enjoyed them. Anyway, hows the fishing been?

How deep was I fishing in Hole 33? As deep as the lure would go. I'd say about six feet. Did'nt bait fish just cruised around the edge of coves tossing lures for a change. Good to hear from you.

[cool]Thanks BaySport, just got back from Pumphouse cove. I still have to down load the pic of the fish(2 stripers). My computer was on the fritz for awhile. I'll be trying for LMB probably next week. Looks like they are in shallow enough. I actually had a 2lb smallmouth chase my lure back to shore this afternoon. I'll post later.
