It's before noon and I am already back from my Sunday trip to Strawberry. I got there really early in the morning and the fish were jumping. I drove around a bit after I got done fishing and the lake is looking really nice. Caught some nice cuts on a fly. I didn't measure the largest cause I didn't want to hurt it, but it looked around 24 inches. This is my third time to Strawberry and each time I have caught bigger fish. All were released so they should still be around for someone else to catch.

I believe we talked over at East Portal Bay. There was three of us walking up to the car and we talked for a minute.
We didn't have much luck today, fished from 7:30-1:00. Two fish landed and a couple others got away. I was expecting a much better day than what we had.

Yes MGB that was me. I was actually excpecting a better day as well. It was kind of slow overall, but the size made up for it. I landed 3 cutts on a fly and one sucker/carp looking fish on a worm. I attached a picture of it.
And to Xmlfish, I was using a casting bubble. I was casting right along the ice.

Nice report! We were at the Berry on Saturday in my cousins 14 foot boat (see my other report...). If you can get out to about 25 feet of water in a boat/tube/pontoon, etc., the jigging action is HOT right now!

I think there is a good chance of launching a boat on the strawberry side in a week, definately with in two weeks. The ice has pulled back from the shore 10'-40' with warm temperatures and wind forecasted the ice should come off wiht in 7-10 days. SC side is 95% open and had 4 boats on it last Sunday.

I can't wait to get the boat back on the berry. Can't compare ice fishing or first ice off to soft water fishing out of the boat.
