Fishing platform
#1
I did some research and found this very cool add on. Does anyone have any experience with it. The one I am using is not as slick looking as this one. Check it out and tell me what ya think. It looks pretty impressive to me. http://www.fkpwarehouse.com/store/standing_platforms.html

[cool][#0000ff]Looks like a good idea. Dave Scadden has been building toons with platforms and lean bars for a long time. But, he also puts them on heavy duty well-engineered craft. I suspect that retrofitting a wimpy toon with a standing platform might be an invitation to disaster. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There are lots of times and places when it could be an advantage to be able to stand up...for looking, casting or controlling hooked fish. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I vote for the concept, but it would have to be proven on a craft by craft basis.[/#0000ff]

TD, Since I have a TU Colorado witha steel frame, I am thinking that this rig would preform well on my toon. What do ya think? I currently am using a COKE a COLA pallet that I modified and it does not make a noticable difference in how the toon handles and only adds about 10 lbs in weight. The main reason I was interested in this setup is the lean bar. Also it attaches with straps so there is no cutting or drilling needed. This was the only after market setup I have been able to locate so far, but I will do some more research before I go for it. If and when I do I will post the results

Thanks for your input.

[cool][#0000ff]The Colorado is a pretty stout craft and should be able to handle the platform and lean bar. [/#0000ff]

If you can afford it KAZUALT, it sounds perfect for your want and needs. They do have great engineers design these things for their product.
I'm with TD, let us know what you decide and how it works out for you.

[black]One day, while bored, I went back into the archives in this forum.[/black]

I found a company selling platforms for kick boats, that is installed in place of the seat. The platform has a recepticle for a standard boat seat in the middle of the platform. With the installation of the platform and the standard seat, you can raise and lower the seat, and also swivel it.

Note: The platform that you are looking at, has a note on the site that it is for craft 9 feet or longer. Does your boat qualify?

Yep my toon is a TU colorado 9'. It is a steel frame so it should handle this rig with no problems. I am currently using a homemade deck and it has no noticable difference in the toons preformance. I will post a schematic of the deck I currently have installed. Right now I dont have a digital camera so I can't post pics. But the schematic will give you a good idea of how I made this deck.
