Starvation Weather
#1
Does anyone know how cold it is at night up at starvation? I am thinking of taking my family up there camping/fishing for the weekend. I dont wanna do it if they're all gonna be uncomfortable though. Any advice would be nice...

Would there still be snow on the ground?

[#ff0000]Since Starvation is basically in Duchesne, I see the forcast this weekend will be in the high 70's low 80's. I will be at a small reservior about 10 miles from Starvation this weekend wakeboarding and such, my only concern in the big "W" It might get a bit cool at night, but day time temps should be very nice up there.[/#ff0000]

Starvation is a fun place to fish. From the reports I am hearing, the perch and the walleye are starting to show up.

Tip jigs with worms.

Also, if you like to eat fish, make sure to keep a limit of each... the reservoir could use the harvest. [cool]

Thanks for all the info guys. I know I am full of questions and thinking of more. We just bought our 2 kids 5 & 6 years old little 90cc 4-wheelers. Does the area accomodate them or is all marked no ATVs?

I will probably be float tubing and preferably using a fly rod. Any suggestions.

[cool][#0000ff]Just got back from Starvation. Will be posting a complete report. We float tubed at Rabbit Gulch. Primitive campground. Air temp 40 at dawn, only warmed up to about 60 and the wind hit with a vengeance about 11.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are lots of back roads on the other side of the dam (east side) that are dirt and gravel and outside the state park boundaries.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Surprisingly few campers up there already except in the Camper World facility.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Got lots of perch, some smallmouths, no walleyes.[/#0000ff]

There is good 4 wheelin all arround starvation, but be carefull with the young inexperienced riders, the area is a high desert type area with lots of cedar trees, rocks, gullys, and sagebrush. I'm just saying keep the little ones in your sight until you know it's safe. As for the fishing, in addition to the smallmouth/perch/walleye, take along some dead minnows and through out a line on the bottom (in rocky bottom areas)while your helping out the kids. There are very large browns in there, and it takes some patients but can reward you with a 5-10lb brown if your lucky. Good Luck Lonnie
