Jordan River update
#1
Well, the fishies have started playing on the Jordan.

Channels are taking both sucker and carp in deeper sections on the bottom. I've also caught a few spawners on carp rig ups with both worms and white bread. A few nice fish, too. Best fishing for me has been from about 48th to 17th south. Nice deep sections, inflows, bends and other structure are keys to finding fish.

White Bass, Walleye, Crappie and the occassional Large Mouth have been taking curl tails and micro tubes around most of the inflows, back eddies, rock shelves, and other structures. Fishing should only continue to get better for most of these guys, especially the whites. No big schools yet, but decent sized fish.

Both the sucker and carp runs are in full swing. I've been fishing the inflows around the valley with both worms and bread on the bottom. Fish are usually active, biting within five to ten minutes. The fish have also been running good size. Average sucker's about 22", average carp around 24".

That about sums things up. I've been hitting it whenever I have free time. A lot of the time it's either early mornings or late nights. Good luck to ya all!

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good time to go get some sucker or carp meat for bait. [cool]

Hey.. Sewfish and Bigfish6, I too have been trying to hit the river more often. I am new to the area and still trying to learn the areas up and down the river. I also hit the river last night on the south end. I had 3 the size of what sewfish showed us and I landed about 8 or 9, but only kept 5. All on dip bait. Biting like crazy. I lost alot. It was better in the faster waters. I moved around 2 or 3 times, but it was fun. They were still biting when I left. Maybe we can all hook up one day and hit the river together. I may try again this evening if the rain moves out. Friday evening is looking good too.
