I have personally only caught and released nothing over about 400 lbs. but as a captain, I think one of my customers takes first place (I dare U to compete) in this category. A few years ago while fighting an amberjack, a female Orca of about 2 tons ate the jack and got hooked. After a 20 minute fight we got the Orca up to the boat and she spit the hook at us. An excellent release that made the papers Smile

Capt. Jeff

Sorry guys, no photo of the killer whale. The only camera I had on board was a poloroid. I didn't even think to use it at the time. I didn't even know orcas came to Hawaii until this incident. They hung around for a couple of weeks and were spotted by many. Then moved on.

I,ve managed a few nice dolphin hook-ups over the years too.

Capt. Hello All!
Now these are some serious hook up's! I've often wondered why more people haven't accidentally hooked dolphins and could only imagine the fight they would put up if hooked. Any idea how fast a dolphin is moving under water in comparison to something like a Marlin? aqua, it looks like your dolphins could use a few more votes (LOL) the Bills are smoking them!

Before you leave today, Smile!!
http://www.bigfishtackle.com/comics.htm
Mike

Hooked a Sea-lion while salmon fishing, he decided to eat my fish. Bastard. Bout would have like to spool me before I cut the line.

Another time, had baby 8" striper on the end of an ultra-light rod. Just as I was about to pull it out of the water, a sea-lion appeared from under the dock, came right underneath me and grabbed the fish. About scared the holy bejesus out of me as he did it too. Talk about the element of surprise, although not a good one.
