Hot fishing "Down Under" 2002
#1
G'day Dan and other fishing club anglers.

Just a brief note to let you know that a number of US anglers have expressed an interest in fishing Oz in 2002 for a range of tropical species, including the much revered Barramundi (lates calcarifer).

A head shaking, bone rattlin, line cutting, hard hitting, take no prisoners fish that like's to fight at very close waters and rock (or snag) you at every opportunity.

The Barra, as well call it here is Australia's premier sportfish and at times is not only hard to find, but even harder to hook up, and land, on either mono or fly.

A host of other species abound in these "fish rich waters" and is the home of sportfish on light tackle (12 lb). Short rods (5'6" plug sticks), baitcaster reels with lures and jigs are the tackle to use along with the option of other pelagics offshore. Fly rods are also more than welcome.

In all, there is an average of 34 species to target over the 7 days of full on, dawn to dusk, fishing in very remote and hard to reach locations.

If other anglers have an interest in teaming up with this group in 2002 then let me know. "All up cost" for 8 nights, 7 days of remote fishing aboard a 75 foot mothership, all airfares, including US west coast & return, transfers, food, tackle, pro guides, special tender boats etc., costs out to approx $3200 USD for next year.

Maximum of 6 anglers only "so get in early" and secure your place.Where will we be fishing? At the very top of Australia and down the western side of far North Queensland.

When? ... April/May or October/November 2002 are the best times. Which ever suits the most anglers.

Where would we fly in to? Off your coast and to Cairns near the Great Barrier Reef. Fly direct to here or come via Sinagapore and save even more $$$.. From their, commercial charter plane to the top of Australia and return 8 days later.

Am I going to be their? If we get a full team, you bet!!!

If you have further Q's then let me know.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com

G'day Dan

I can do better than list some of those species. I can give you a link that shows, and talks, about the lot.

This hot web site covers all the details, mothership pics and more. Once their, go to the bottom of the page and click on "the mothership trip".

http://www.seafaris.com

Take a look through and let me know what you, and others, think about the look of the location etc. I am itching to pro-guide some of you guys up in this location and have a ball on light tackle.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com
