Suzuki oil injected engine

My brother in law just purchased a boat with a mid 90's suzuki 85 hp oil injected outboard.

I have heard some horror stories about oil injected engines.

I beleive some have said to disable the oil resevoir and just mix the oil in with the gas.

Will someone validate or dismiss these for me.
