"No plans to close Deer Creek this summer"
#1
That is a direct quote from the Deer Creek State Park official I talked to today. He called it all "media hype". You should be able to launch your boats from the Island Marina the rest of the year, there just isn't any ramp left so it is all dirt.

I also asked a Stake Park lady today on my way back from Jordanelle and got the same reply. There are no plans to close anything, they're just letting a bunch of water out to work on the dam.

This is from the DWR site:

DEER CREEK RESERVOIR: (Aug 8) Recent newspaper article stated that reservoir may be closed in the near future to recreation. According to State Park Ranger Rick Redmond, this is absolutely not true! Though the main state park ramp is closed, the Island ramp will remain open to launching "at your own risk". Ramp is out of the water and boats will be launched from the sand. This could pose a problem for larger boats...

Just a friendly reminder - DO NOT PARK on the dirt - you will get a parking ticket that cost me $75 three or four years ago.

That's right - I had parked in the same weed patch for 4 days in a row and never got any tickets or warnings. I was parked with several other vehicles and we all hit the bonus round. When we had gotten the ticket the water was a about 300 yards from the end of the ramp.

What really makes me MAD is that all the wind boarders park on the beach though out the summer and NEVER get a parking ticket!!!

And if you want to fight the ticket good luck - you will have to driver to Heber to plead innocent, then you will have to drive there again to your court date. So two days of my vacation time would have been lost plus gas.

Yea I pared on the dirt a few weeks ago with a bunch of other people. We were just given warnings, but that was also the first day teh Island ramp was closed. I feel lucky, I know when I was walking back to the truck and saw the paper under the wiper my heart stopped and I thought how much is this going to cost me.
