Elk Hunting Article
#1
There has been a lot of talk lately about the management or " mis-managment" of utah's elk herds... I saw this today and thought it was interesting... does this change anyone's thinking???

Granted Utah has some huge bulls. But Utah cheats with the riffle hunt smack dab in the middle of the rut. No other state has this advantage. In LE units this practice should end. But if the goal is bragging rights on amazing and easy elk hunting. They got it. There should be an asterisk by Utah B&C records for this fact.

I agree that the hunt during the rut makes it easier to find the big bulls, but I don't think there are enough permits given to cause any harm to the population. In fact it must be helping because there are more and more big bulls taken every year, and the Elk herd is doing better than ever! Now if those numbers start to decrease, and the average age of bulls goes down, that is when I would start to complain. Until then, hunt on!
