Pics of Low waters up north
#1
[purple][size 3]I played Hookie from work on monday and tuesday and went FISHIN!![angelic] I went to porcupine mon and caught a beautiful (well judge for yourself) rainbow, 18 in, couldnt find my scale, wt??, went by Hyrum on the way home and caught a little bluegill no pic wasnt worthy, then tuesday went to Echo and caught the perch, nothing to brag about[Sad] but made a very nice bag of fillets. I fished off the shore due to taking the dog to play, she loves to swim and fetch, we had two great days and went home with Smiles. I think they were all caught on worm. thought you like to see how low the waters are. Enjoy[/size][/purple]

Great pics! It's amazing how low the waters have receded this summer. Let's hope for a full snow-pack this winter or our hobby will be suffering.

I was there at Hyrum last saturday evening and early sunday morning. My boy and I were fishing there on the dam, with some people to our left and also around the bend to our right. The guys on the left caught an enormous 'bow just tossing spinners from the bank. Estimated around 8 lbs. I'm guessing. I know they're in there, but I've never seen one that big caught from Hyrum. The two guys to our right were also catching trout using powerbait. They were nice enough to even give me some of the special flavor, and presto I started catching trout. (some say if you use power bait you might as well be cheating).

They all kept stringers of their trout, most of which were large in size. I released all mine back into the lake. My boy caught a ton of little largies, bluegills, and perch. The perch are making a good comeback there at Hyrum after a couple years of struggling.

In your opinion could a rookie safely launch a boat in Hyrum?

""some say if you use power bait you might as well be cheating).""

I cant say that i agree with this statement, i was using power bait and do use power bait but i miss most of those bites and they always get to eat my power bait before i get to eat them. [Wink] Everyones entitled to their own opinions though.

I didnt stay there long at hyrum, just wanted to see how fast the action was, and it wasnt were i tried. Maybe only a hr. Was on my way home. There was a couple over on the other side of the dam in the corner but i didnt see them catch anything either but wasnt watching too closely.

yeah i know the lunkers in there, one year up there trolling i caught the biggest bass but only got him to the side of the boat, i'm not a bass fisherwoman but i believe it was a big mouth, he was huge and all i saw was one big mouth and a splash and then goodbye. and on another trip my cousin hooked into a very large probably 8lb at least if not bigger trout but couldnt land it, but that could be a fishing story too.

as far as launching a boat, i didnt really check out the dock but i'm sure you could launch beside the ramp, but being a rookie and being safe well i dont know that i would suggest it alone.
