It will be interesting to see what the test say when they do them on my favorite lake in Cache county, Porcupine. I wonder if they have any test planned for Willard next year? Hopefully they will get around to testing all the fish in Northern Utah. WH2

And we haven't heard anything about the tests done on Utah Lake. Supposedly done in a Texas lab. I think good ol TD mentioned that there was still no published results. I wonder if they will test Mantua. I probably fish that more than Hyrum and Newton. Wonder how toxic the bluegills are.......lol. We should shut down the stupid gold mines. Who needs gold that much anyways? At the expense of making everything around us poisonous? This is ridiculous. Oooooh, he got it at Jared's?! Yes, JARED'S!! [Wink]

[cool][#0000ff]..."good ol' TD"???? I'll admit to being ol' but will sue you for slander if you start spreading rumors about the "good" stuff.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]As I recall, the test results for non-carp Utah Lake fish were supposed to be in no later than May of this year...that's 2007. So far...so what? It has been awful quiet on the ecology front. Hope no news is not bad news. But, I suspect the worst so I won't likely be disappointed.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have also heard that all waters in Utah are supposed to be tested for bad stuff. There have been enough "surprises" that the public and environmental groups are crying for more complete testing. Only problem is funding. First we gotta pry the money loose from the state budget. Historically that ain't easy. They need the money (and surpluses) for more important things...to be named later.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I would suspect that the primary potential pollutants in Mantua would be more of the agricultural runoff kind, rather than mine waste. The nitrates and phosphates from animal waste and fertilizers make for great weed growth but do not usually create hazards serious enough to close a lake to fish consumption...or the growth of extra body parts.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]And, about the gold mining concerns. Haven't you heard about the mining lobby...called "Bling for bluegills"?[/#0000ff]
