Ice fishing sonar

k I want to use my boats fish finder for ice fishing and was wondering which transducer works best for that? a thru hull or a transom mount one?

I have never used a thru hull transducer while ice fishing but I don't see how it would matter. Maybe some of the other guys will know for sure but now that you have brought up the subject, it makes me wonder if that transducer would work thru the ice, anyone know? A 9* cone would be the best but most people use what ever they have but it depends on how deep the water is. WH2
