Finally some chukars!
#1
Went up to my favorite WIA on Saturday to find absolutely nobody there. We jumped well over 100 Chukars, most of them way to far out. We did have some success and ended up shooting four birds. It was great seeing so many birds, just wish they weren't so spooky.
Here's the pics.

Great report, I haven't heard of anyone seeing that many chukers in years. I'm glad to hear you guys got a few but what is a WIA area?

"WIA"= Walk-in-access areas
It's a program that started last year that gives the public access to private hunting ground. The DWR pays land owners an annual fee to open up thier property to the public. You can find more out on the DWR website. It's a great program and I have visited almost all of the properties. Do some research and you can find some great opportunities with the WIA program.

Glad you could make it out and find some birds! They've had a rough couple of springs, and the numbers are down. Hopefully next year things will improve.

Oh yea, I've read about it, I just didn't realize they had land in the WIA program that was for chukars. I guess I need to do some more reading, thanks for the info.

Congrats on the Chuckers that is a nice hall you have there. And thanks for the gun porn, Citori's have always been one of my favorite.

The chukar hunt ends in most of Utah on Nov 30th. Certain parts of Box Elder country stays open until Dec 31st.
