#1
I stepped out for a few minutes today, and saw some pretty pretty ice on the lake today.

no not enough to walk on, just enough to cap the water, but it is encouraging....[Smile]

Tenn has two world record record smallmouth bass,

which one did he come close to? the 10 pounder or the 11 pounder?

the tenn fishing hall of fame has one at 11 pounds+ and the IFGA has one at 10 pounds+.. both came from the same lake in Tennessee, the 11 pounder was caught in 1955 and the 10 pounder was caught in 1969....

so if your unkle beats me to it all the better... LOL, it will just raise the bar a little....[cool]

Correction: I spoke with him last night after he landed a 13# steelie and talked with him about the smallies. He has come within 7 oz of the OR state record not the world record. I was wrong.[blush]

that's still an impressive smallie,,, not to shabby on the steelie either...

in michigan, I could catch a world record smallie that would be reconized by IFGA, but not reconized by the state of michigan... Reason is, Michigan dose not reconize all fish caught in its waters, it has to be caught in public waters to be reconized...

so any fish I catch on my lake wont qualify for state reconition because it dose not have public access..

my best smallie so far was a 20 incher, I had hold of a bigger one when I was wading in to the lake but lost it when it decided to jump over my head and slap me in the face along his way...[shocked] needless to say, I lost my concentration and the smallie, but I did get a close up veiw of it....[shocked][angelic]

Im here in gold old cold Wisconsin. Above the dam where i like to fish, there is already 4 inches of ice on it. Havent gone out yet but i hope to go this weekend and try to slay me some northern and gills. Last summer i caught a 21 inch smallie out of the same body of water. Biggest fish i caught on that particular body except for a few mid 30's pike that i caught ice fishing. I can tell this year is gonna be a good one.
