I have a friend that has never been ice fishing and he's a bit scared of thin ice. Is the whole lake capped or is there still open water. I know the area near the dam in usually fishable by now, but I'm not sure if he'll go on the ice if he sees open water.
Thanks,
Justin

We fished Scofield today. The fishing was not bad considering we didn't get there until 11:30 AM (fished another body of water earlier). We caught lots of rainbows (we were hoping to catch a nice cutt and a tiger trout or two). The fish were mostly in the 14 to 16 inch size with the largest going 18 inches. They were all fat. We fished on the main lake and the ice was just under 3 inches thick out about 75 yards and then it gets thinner after that. Scofied ice should be fine close to the dam, but your friend would not like it where we fished.
