Hit the lake today and was glad I did. The fishing was great!!! Iced between 35-40 fish, I stopped counting after 20, all rainbows. 7-10 of those fish were around the 20 inch mark with 5 being big, fat & colorful.

I fished by the trailers just past the dam. The further I wandered out the thinner the ice got so I kept close to shore because two of the kiddies came with. I was surprised by the amount of slush on the ice and how thin it still is. We need some colder weather in here or else nothing else will freeze.

I don't know how deep I was cause I don't have sonar. But man what a great day. I know that lake will be hit this weekend, hope this helps anyone planning a trip.

The entire lake was capped and the kids had a great time. I was going to post some pics but the camera had a problem and wouldn't work.

It was nice to be able to have more that 1 pole in the water but it was a work-out in the morning running from pole to pole, helping set the hooks, re-baiting then getting the hook back in the water just to hear dad my pole is moving. All that while watching my pole get bites and not being able to set the hook in time.

Oh by the way if wax or mill worms are your choice for bait I couldn't find any at the gas stations or Sportsmans. Crawlers did just fine though with the preferred color of jig up there. I did have one pole with powerbait on. I tried almost every color in the bait box today the fish weren't picky.

That was me, I am exhausted. I wish I could be a kid again that way I could sleep on the way home. I'm jealous that I couldn't land a tiger today. Hopefully next trip.

Nice job patman. I went up solo on monday and did well just down from that area. Bunch of rainbows and one nice tiger. We are cooking up some rainbows here at work tonight. We'll have to get together and plan an outing.

You were in 20 feet of water. Actually it was 18 to be exact. I was the guy talking to you about your tent. My son and grandson went up also. We didn't get there till 11 a.m. The good fishing was finished by then. It took us a while to locate fish, but finally landed 5, then we went home early (2:30). I think I missed about that many also. A few came by and took a sniff, but would't bite. We used crawlers on a ratfinky. Any color seemed to work well. I was using green which seemed to work the best for us. The ice was 3.5 to 4 inches thick where we were. The slush was about 2 inches deep in the snow areas. It was 23 degrees when we arrived and 39 when we left. Verey comfortable day for fishing outside the tent. I wore a sweat shirt, levis and no gloves.

This is my first post this year since last years ice fishing closed. I don't fish any other time of the year.
