Bear Lake Report
#1
Fished off cisco beach with "Bearlakefishguy" this morning. We managed a bucket full of whites for smoking and breakfast. Scott sure knows how to catch them. Bites were light but steady (for Scott at least) but I did manage to get a few to the boat. Broke one of my medium action rods on a snag, I MEAN BIG TROUT! LOL We fished fairly shallow and the secret lure of Scotts was the ticket. I tried a few of my go to stuff but no bites until I switched over.

Cold morning but tolerable. Great company and a fun day.

Thanks again BLFG.

I had a great time on the water yesterday. In fact I just loaded up the smoker after "brining" the fish for about 16 hours. Should be ready tonight! Yesterday we caught several females that were in various stages of being spawned out. What does this mean? Well it means the run should be "ON" for another week and then begin to taper off just before Christmas (right on schedule). So, if you haven't been up to catch some whitefish you can still do so. By next weekend it will have really slowed down so either this weekend or sometime next week. I ate one fish for a "shore lunch" yesterday and it was unbelieveably tasty! I know Pat what having whitefish and eggs for breakfast this morning! It was a good day on the big blue pond yesterday (especially after we overcame a dead boat battery). Yeah, it even happens to the locals every once in a while! Not bad for fishing on the "13th". And yes, I am superstitious about those things!

Not only did I have a great white fish breakfast, I had enough to make a nice big pot of chowder for lunch.

Sure wish they would put the bubblers in the marina! I looked at the camera this morning and it appears to have ice sheets forming in the channel. I am going to drive down and check it out.

Rough life it is........

Sitting here drinking beer, eating fish chowder, surfing the web, and no one around.

The marina channel has ice sheets forming and the bubblers are not even in the water? Looks like these cold temps are going to shut the launching capabilities down soon. I guess the rangers are PO'ed at us fisher folk for complaining about the parking and said we will show them![mad] Cisco beach is going to be the only place with a ramp left and that is a tough place to retrieve a boat if the weather is rough.

Guess I may have to put the boat away till spring. [unsure]

Hello Pat long time no see.. I think your exactly right. As soon as the marina freezes over the they can rent out the rest of the parking spots.[mad] Oh well fun while it lasted.
