First Smalle ice fishing
#1
Well I headed up to Rockport about noon to see how much ice it has...

It has from 4" to 5 1/2" of ice and getting more, when I got there it was 7 at 12:30 and just got colder, fished in ice water from 38' to 15' got a few perch and three trout and my first 14" small mouth bass threw the ice for this year headed home at 5:00 temp by then was 4 ....

Smallies are hard to come by through the ice. I'll bet it was a fun fight!

Yes it did fight good I go up on Jordanelle as much as I can this time of year just for the bass with my boat ...

I have heard for years that bass don't bite in winter very good but the more I fish for them the more I find was not true about bass and cold water...
