Now that we have had a few more weeks of cold weather I thought I would ask this question again. Does anyone have any updates on the ice conditions at East Canyon? If it is fishable, any tips on where to fish or what is working would also be appreciated. We would like to head up there on New Years Day if it is safe. Thanks in advance for your help.

New Years day we will all be on Yuba!
Last report was a skim. Go to the state parks website and get the phone # for the ranger. They will know.

I plan on trying it Sat. Will post if there is safe ice, probably won't post if it isn't (recovering from hypothermia)! I immagine it should have some ice with the cold temps we've had.

There waser in the east arm one lonely sole out there yesterday, he was over on the east arm. The entire lake seemed to be frozen, i didn't stop to see how thick the ice was.

The South arm is usually the area I fish first, it seems to have the best ice early in the season but the banks are steep so it's a hike out. Good luck if you go and let us know how you do. WH2

3" of ice by the dam. DWR officer reported thicker ice at Taylor Hollow, several people fishing at Taylor Hollow, several had crossed to the other side of the lake. Fishing was good. Used white tube and wax worm. Fish anywhere between 15' and 35'. Have Fun!
