Fished Chesterfield for several hours today. I didn't measure the ice but it was about 7"-8"(?) thick with 4”-5"(?) of clear solid ice. I caught more fish than the other two trips to Chesterfield this December but I also fished an hour longer than the last trip. I caught a higher percentage of fish less than 15" today than the other two trips. However, not all of the longer fish I caught today were thin. I did get a couple of the "footballs" Chesterfield is known for.
Here is a good looking hayspur strain rainbow.
Here is a rainbow that was close to 18“. It wasn't the football a couple of them I caught today were but at least it was a little thicker than most of the other fish I've caught around this length at Chesterfield this winter.
Here are a couple pictures of me with some rainbows. I know I have a strange look on my face and something frozen to the tip of my nose.[blush] It was cold out there and I couldn't feel my fingers when these pictures were taken.
