Fish Lake report! 1-1-08
#1
Fish Lake turned out to be my usual favorite ice fishing lake. On a awesome cloudless day at FL I pulled in about 50 trout. My group of four totaled 115! We walked across to the East side on good solid 7 inches of ice and fished 103 feet of water a few dozen yards off shore. (The only downer is my camera batteries were dead on arrival!!...my brother snapped a few shots I need to get a hold of)

The trout(Splake, Rainbows, and a dozen sub 20" macs) we found were fatter than usual for that lake. Normally many of those splake and Mac pups look like snakes!

There were very few people out near the road(if you're reading...how'd you do??) and we were the only ones on the East side I could see. Most Macs were on the bottom; the rainbows and most splake were anywhere above 50ft. We had success on many colored jigs; white, chartreuse, pink with mealies and/or chub or perch meat.

Feel free to PM me about any details. I'd like to find a big Mac some day!!... would anyone be wiling to share some favorite FL spots for some bigger lake trout??

Great report. Can't wait to get back down and give Fish Lake another try through the ice. I have only caught one decent mack down there and it was under 14 pounds, so I don't have any secrets that I can share with you.

A 6 pounder would be a 'bigger' laker for me!! I did see an enormous fish come look at my rig when I was sight fishing for some average rainbows and splake but it didn't take unfortunately.
