Lake Mead Marina move complete
#1
Headed to the lake with my pard, Don, to start the rebuild on the port engine in the 30 footer.

Lake Mead Marina is gone!

The Marina is now located next to the Paddlewheelers at Hemenway. The "Wall" can be seen in the background. We had access to the boat, but no power or water. Work crews were working hard to put it all together. No carp around! Sure they will find it soon.

Our objective was to install the re-manufactured heads on the port engine. Don did 99% of the work while I handed him tools with my good arm.

Don prepares to perform a trick worthy of Houdini....enter the engine compartment and escape with his life! He managed to
install the heads, intake manifold, etc. Next weekend both engines should be running. I can't wait!

Great, just in time for fishing with the nice weather and all. See you on the water.

Thanks, this boat will be great for overnight cut bait fishing. It still needs a lot of work. I hope it is worth it.

I went out on sunday, and was surprised to see the marina gone. I hadnt heard anything about it. I was gonna show my wife your boat, but to no avail. Didnt fish, but had a nice 6 mile paddle on a beautiful, warm, sunny, glassy day.

We just pulled up and took a couple pictures from the boat ramp.

Have'nt heard any reports about fishing the former marina area. Wonder how long it will take the carp to find the marina's new location?

I think that with the marina gone it will be much easier to lanch and get out into the lake. The marina kind of bogged you down. Parking may be easier also. I won't be back in the water for a few weeks yet but I'm looking forward to it.

I went out sunday morning. I trolled around the area were the marina was nothing on the graph or on the end of my line. Also stopped by b-5. Again nothing. Trolled the beach and casted. Nothing[mad] the last three times out going for the big guys I just can't find them. Last Tuesday night I caught two 3 lbers from shore at b-5. One guy in a Boat showed me his fish. 8 and all of them 4-8lbs and two of them between 10 and 20 lbs. Have all the big ones been caught? Maybe time for bait.

Sounds like the guy in that boat had a good day! Did he clue you into how he caught them? A friend of mine went out on Sunday and fished cut-bait and chumed with corn somewhere around the Gov't Wash/Hole 33 areas and only caught a couple small stripers. Said it was slooooow. Oh well it was a nice weekend anyway.

no I do not have a canopy yet. I have a small tracker silver and black. I saw a yellow kayak and someone in a float tube by the pump house sunday on my way in. I am going out this weekend if this new storm coming in does not drag into the weekend. Hope I have something to report.[Smile]

I heard 70 boats launched for Saturday's tournament. High weight around 9+ lbs. Many boats blanked. We were out and saw several bass rigs running and gunning from spot to spot. We also blanked. Thinking last week the bass were bunched up - suspended - hard to find...
