Anyone fishing after dark here?
#1

I have asked some people on here a little bit about this but I have been wanting to fish a few rivers and lakes that hold big trout like provo and the berry. I have seen bruisers but only caught a few. I think they would be cruising the deeper holes and bays late at night and have heard stories of monster trout on the green being taken after dark. Do any of you fish at night and how? If I do it i'm thinking of using a jitterbug like this one.

The state record brown was caught on the green at night with a lead filled flat fish. I bet below the dam at night your little critter would pick up some nice browns. I have only fished in the dark once kinda gives you the willies...

To fish effectively at night you need

1. Some visibility via a good headlamp or a full moon. You have to have the ability to release the fish and change your fly. You also need to get back to your rig without breaking a leg.

2. The right lure or fly. I only fly fish so mouse patterns, streamer or something that creates a wake or disturbance is good. Flashy also works.

3. Mosquito repellent.

4. Extra pint of blood for when you forget your mosquito repellent
