Gorge ice off?
#1
Hi guys,
My buddy and I are planning to hit Flaming Gorge in my boat shortly after ice off. He has some time to burn, but I've got to give my employer at least 400 years advance notice [shocked] Any ideas for a good time frame to expect the ice to leave? I know a lot depends on what the weather does between now and then, so I'm talking generally. We'll be going out of Sheep Creek initially, but plan to trek furthur north as well. Thanks in advance! Mid April is a safe bet.

I usually aim for about the 15th of April. Of course it depends on the weather ,how much wind we have, how warm it get in spring.I have fished the gorge as early as the 26th of March, and have had to wait until almost the end of April for the ice to disappear.

I have gone up to the gorge the last week of april for the last 4 years and it has been completely ice free from buckboard down, the rainbow trout fishing is awesome.
