Fish and a Storm?
#1
I'm thinking of braving the storm tomorrow (friday) and heading to strawberry. I was just curious if anybody knows how a storm affects the fishing? Is it like the Moon or do they not even know what's going on under all that ice?

Most big storms probably result in less people fishing and a fall in the power squadron population. So the fish might notice from that perspective. I am sure the storms don't make as big of a difference during the ice season compared to ice off. The pressure systems probably do change with the storms, but it seems like the effect may not be that great during the ice season. I've only been ice fishing a few times so my data with storms and ice fishing won't be helpful.

make sure you post a conditions report! [Wink] thinking about going that way on Sunday and any recent info would be MUCH appreciated

I've found that fish are more active in the transition when a storm moves in, and slows down during the storm, then picks back up as the storm subsides. I've noticed this trend even when ice fishing.
